เพลงดำเนินทราย ประพันธ์ขึ้นจากเพลงไทยเดิมทางเปลี่ยนของท่านบิดา (หลวงประดิษฐไพเราะ) ในลักษณะ String Quartet และได้รับการดัดแปลงให้บรรเลงโดยใช้เครื่องสาย (Strings) ทั้งวงของดุริยางค์ซิมโฟนี
Damnern Sigh was originally written for string quartet. This work was Prasidh's orchestration of the traditional Thai version composed by his father, the famed Luang Praditpairoh. In subsequent compositions, it was performed by the entire string section of the Symphony orchestra which lent full-bodied sound to the piece.
