ดุริยนิพนธ์ชิ้นนี้เป็นทั้งงานอนุรักษ์และงานสร้างสรรค์ขึ้นใหม่อย่างวิจิตรปราณีตของสองดุริยกวีไทยผู้เป็นบิดาและบุตร ท่านบิดา (หลวงประดิษฐไพเราะ) ได้ประพันธ์ขึ้นจากเพลงเก่าสองชั้นเป็นสามชั้นและชั้นเดียวจนครบลักษณะเถา อาจารย์ประสิทธิ์ ศิลปบรรเลง ได้เรียบเรียงเพลงเสี่ยงเทียนครั้งแรกในลักษณะ String Quartet และหลังจากนั้น ได้ประพันธ์ขึ้นใหม่สำหรับหมู่นักร้องโซปราโนและอัลโต ร่วมกับวงดุริยางค์ซิมโฟนี ผลคือ เป็นเพลงเสี่ยงเทียนที่มีความสง่างามประสานกับความอ่อนหวานซาบซึ้ง อันเป็นงานรังสรรค์ร่วมกันระหว่างบิดาและบุตร ฝากไว้เป็นสมบัติอีกชิ้นหนึ่งแก่ชาติไทยและชาวโลก
Siang Tian is the creative joint venture of father and son, this piece was first composed by Luang Praditpairoh in the traditional Thai style renowned for its graceful and romantic expression. The first significant rearrangement of the piece was completed by Luang's son, Prasidh Silapabanleng. Initially arranged for a string quartet based on his father's original composition, Prasidh took the work to greater proportions when he re-composed it to accommodate a full orchestra and female chorus. The splendidly romantic composition which sprang from this fatherand-son effort gave Thailand (and the world) a stylistic work of art which is recognized as modern classic.
